Do Not Disturb While Driving (DNDWD) is a feature introduced in iOS 11 that automatically silences all incoming calls and text messages while you’re driving. It’s a great feature to have turned on, but it can be inconvenient for people who travel as passengers.
If you’re not driving, however, and you just need to turn off im driving on iphone for a short time, it’s easy to do. Just follow the instructions below.
Do Not Disturb While Driving (DNDWD)
Do Not Disturb While Driving (DNDWD) is a new feature in iOS 11 that limits incoming notifications and calls while you’re driving to keep you focused on the road. It’s designed to cut down on motor vehicle accidents caused by distracted driving and can be a life-saving feature for drivers.
It can be turned on automatically or manually, and it will activate based on your phone’s motion sensors or the iPhone’s connection to your car’s Bluetooth wireless network. The “Automatically” option activates it when you’re in a moving car, while the “When Connected to Car Bluetooth” option activates it whenever your phone is connected to your car’s Bluetooth device.
You can also set a default auto-reply message for the feature to send to people who text you while you’re driving. The default message that is sent is “I’m driving,” but you can change this to anything you like. You can also choose whether or not you want your auto-reply messages to be sent to Recents, Favorites, and All contacts.
To turn off DNDWD, you can either use the “Automatically” activation method or you can turn it off manually in your Control Center. You can also disable it in the iPhone’s DND settings.
The automatic mode works by detecting your iPhone’s motion sensor when you are driving in a moving car, which can be especially helpful if you’re in a rental car or you have a family member who is driving the same vehicle as you. It’s also possible to configure DNDWD to activate while your phone is connected to your car’s wireless network, which is helpful if you’re using CarPlay.
Focus Mode
If you’re worried about distracted driving, there’s an iPhone feature called Focus Mode that helps keep your eyes on the road. Similar to Do Not Disturb, Focus Mode limits phone calls and texts. It can also be activated automatically.
This new “digital wellbeing” tool is available on all iPhone and Android devices. It’s a great way to create healthier screen time habits.
You can turn it on or off from the Settings app, but we recommend adding it to Quick Settings tiles for ease of use. To add a tile, swipe down twice from the top and tap the pencil icon.
Next, drag and drop the Focus Mode tile into your group of active tiles. Once it’s there, you can enable or disable it from the tile or tap Take a Break to pause it for a moment.
In addition to turning Focus Mode on from the Quick Settings tile, you can also set it to automatically turn on or off at specific times throughout the day, based on your location or app usage. You can even choose to automatically respond to text messages while you’re in Focus mode, so your friends won’t know you’re busy and have to wait for an answer.
Focus Mode is an excellent addition to any smartphone, and can help you avoid the temptation to reach for your phone when you should be focused on something else. It’s a good tool to use alongside other Digital Wellbeing tools on your phone, like Limit Unwanted Calls.
It’s also a great option for anyone who wants to reduce the amount of notifications they receive while they’re working or studying. You can set up your own list of apps that you want to block during Focus Mode and only get notifications from those apps for a limited amount of time.
You can also mark some notifications across all apps as “time sensitive.” This means they won’t come through if you’re in Focus mode and won’t show up on your Lock Screen or on your Messages app. However, you can still read those messages if you need to.
Auto-Reply Text Messages
Auto-Reply Text Messages are automated messages that automatically reply to SMS text messages when they’re received. They’re an essential tool for businesses who use SMS messaging to engage their customers and respond to inquiries quickly.
The best auto-reply text apps can help you set up a reply that reassures your customers that they’ve reached the right person, or that they can reach you later on by other means. They also give you the opportunity to keep your communication clear and concise.
iPhones have a feature called Do Not Disturb While Driving that disables text messages while you’re in the car. You can turn it on automatically, or manually switch it off. It’s a handy feature that can help you avoid distracted driving accidents, but it also takes up a lot of your phone’s battery power.
iOS 16 adds the ability to customize your Auto-Reply messages. It also expands Do Not Disturb while Driving to include Focus Modes – different Do Not Disturb setups for sleep, personal, and more.
While the default Auto-Reply message is pretty generic, you can customize it to send to specific people or to all your contacts. To do this, open the Settings app and choose Do Not Disturb While Driving.
Next, tap Auto-Reply To. You can choose to auto-reply to all your contacts, recents, favorites, or no one at all.
If you have a lot of people in your contact list, it’s probably better to go with a more customized auto-reply that’s more likely to be received. For example, you could say something like “Please call back at a later time” or “We’re unavailable at the moment.”
Apple’s default Auto-Reply doesn’t work on international numbers. However, the company does offer a third-party service that allows you to automate your responses for all of your SMS messaging accounts. It costs $6.49, but the benefits are worth it.
As with any feature on an iPhone, it’s important to make sure that you don’t use Auto-Reply too frequently. It can easily eat up your monthly allotment of texts, and it can be expensive to use.
CarPlay
CarPlay is a feature that lets you use your iPhone to navigate, message and listen to music and podcasts in your car. While it can be convenient, there are times when you may want to disable CarPlay for various reasons.
One of the most common reasons people want to turn off CarPlay is to avoid distractions while driving. Luckily, there are two ways to do this — through the Settings app or through Screen Time.
The first method involves enabling Screen Time, which will limit the amount of time you can spend using your phone’s apps while in the car. This is the easiest way to completely block CarPlay from your iPhone.
Once you’ve enabled Screen Time, follow the on-screen instructions to set up a passcode and toggle CarPlay off. Once it’s off, you won’t be able to use it again until you lift this restriction.
To get rid of CarPlay entirely, you’ll need to disable the application from your iPhone’s Settings menu. To do this, open the Settings app and tap General.
