The e-bilanz is an electronic balance sheet that is sent by taxpayers to the fiscal authorities via the online portal of the ELSTER (federal financial control authority). The format of this file is XBRL (eXtensible Business Reporting Language), which is used for automated business reporting.
According to ss portion 5b of the German Income Tax Law, certain taxpayers must balance their income (income statement) in an electronic form with their corresponding e-bilanz file. This reporting obligation was introduced in 2014.
In order to be able to transmit the electronic balance sheet, each general ledger account of a taxpayer must be mapped to the e-bilanz taxonomy. This is a demanding task. SNI has developed a comprehensive solution that maps the general ledger accounts to the e-bilanz taxonomy and generates the e-bilanz file automatically from the data in SAP. The document is then sent to the ELSTER portal through a connector (on premise or in the cloud).
