How to Turn on the iPhone 12

How to Turn on the iPhone 12

Posted on April 8, 2023

If you’re having trouble turning on your iPhone 12, you can always use the side button to turn it on. However, if this doesn’t work, you might want to try another method.

If your device isn’t responding to touch input, or if it’s frozen or unresponsive, you can force restart it using the following steps.

Press and hold the Power button

If your iPhone 12 suddenly starts to act up, doesn’t load apps, or just acts weird, it’s time to turn it off and restart. Resetting your iPhone can fix most tech problems, and it’s a quick way to restore the device to normal working order.

Thankfully, Apple provides multiple ways to turn your iPhone off and on. One of them involves using your iPhone’s physical buttons, and the other uses a feature known as Assistive Touch.

The first method involves pressing and holding the Power button on the top of your iPhone, which is situated near the right edge. In a few seconds, a slider will appear on the screen. Simply swipe the slider to the right and your phone will shut down.

Aside from its ability to be used as a power button, the Power button also works to prompt Siri, activate Assistive Touch, and open Apple Pay. This makes the button an essential tool for iPhone users, especially if you frequently use Face ID to unlock your device.

However, it can be a little annoying to have to press the Power button every time you want to turn off your iPhone. And that’s exactly why Apple introduced the Assistive Touch feature to its iOS devices.

This way, you don’t have to memorize all the button combinations for your device. Assistive Touch can perform a range of tasks, from switching off the device to restarting it. But it only works if you enable it.

Press and hold the Home button

If your iPhone’s screen isn’t working or you’ve accidentally pressed it and the Home button, there are still ways to turn it on. First, press and hold the Side button on the right edge of your device. If you do this, the Apple logo will appear on the screen.

Another option is to use the iPhone’s Assistive Touch feature. This lets you replace the Home button with a virtual on-screen icon that can perform functions, like launching the lock screen or viewing your recently opened apps.

In iOS 12, you can enable Assistive Touch by opening the Accessibility menu and tapping AssistiveTouch. Then, move the slider to on/green and a new, round icon will appear on your screen.

AssistiveTouch is a workaround for people with physical conditions that make it hard to press the Home button or those who just want a more convenient way to use their device. It can also be used as a backup solution in case your Home button ever fails to function.

The best part about AssistiveTouch is that it can be easily customized. You can choose how big the on-screen button is, and you can even adjust its opacity. You can also drag it around the screen to place it where you want and even position it so that it doesn’t interfere with any other features on your phone.

One of the other great things about AssistiveTouch is that you can use it without actually touching the screen at all. This makes it a lot easier for the visually impaired, and it can also be helpful if your Home button is damaged.

If you don’t want to use AssistiveTouch or if you’re just looking for an alternative, you can try using the iPhone’s Tap to Wake function. This works just like Assistive Touch, but you can also wake your device by tapping it directly on the screen.

You can also swipe back and forth through multiple open apps on your iPhone 12 with this new gesture. It’s a little bit tricky at first, but after you get the hang of it, it’s incredibly fast and useful.

Press and hold the Side button

The Side button is one of the most important buttons on your iPhone 12. It lets you turn on, put your iPhone to sleep, use Siri, Apple Pay, and more. If you have an iPhone 12 that’s not turning on, you can try to press and hold the Side button until the Apple logo appears.

If the Side button won’t work on your iPhone 12, you may need to do a hard reset. This will completely restart your device and fix any problems that are causing it to freeze up.

To force restart your iPhone, connect it to a computer using the Lightning cable that came with it. You can do this on a Mac running macOS Mojave or earlier or a PC with iTunes installed. On a Mac, open Finder and click on the iPhone in the Finder window.

Once you’ve connected your iPhone, you should see a pop-up for “Reboot device” at the top of the screen in tandem with a confirmation prompt. When it pops up, say “Restart” and your phone will be reset to factory defaults.

Before you perform a hard restart, make sure that you don’t have any important files or apps on your iPhone. This will ensure that your data doesn’t get lost.

Wait for the Apple logo to appear

There are multiple reasons why an iPhone 12 may get stuck on the Apple logo, but most problems can be fixed with a simple restart or update. If you are unable to fix the problem by yourself, you can take your phone to a local Apple store for professional repair.

When an iPhone is turned off, it runs a series of tests checking that both the hardware and software are working properly. This can cause the Apple logo to appear if any of these checks go wrong.

Some of the most common causes for an iPhone to be stuck on the Apple logo are iOS update failures, data transfer interruptions, low device space for regular processing, and jailbreaking. Other problems include hardware issues such as constant phone dropping or water exposure.

Another possible reason for your iPhone to get stuck on the Apple logo is a critical software bug that’s preventing it from turning on properly. A specialized iOS system recovery tool like iSumsoft iOS Refixer can help you fix this problem.

One way to quickly get your iPhone back on is to perform a forced restart. Force restarting your iPhone will forcibly cut off all the software that’s causing a glitch, allowing it to boot afresh and fixing the real issue.

To do this, press and hold down the Home button and the Side button at the same time. Once the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.

After doing this, you’ll need to wait for about 10 seconds before your iPhone turns on again. If the screen still has the Apple logo, it’s a good idea to try to restore your device through DFU mode in Finder or iTunes.
